In a ceremony held Friday morning in The Honorable T. Patt Maney’s courtroom, Keefe, Anchors & Gordon attorney Kia Johnson was sworn in as the newest member of the Florida Bar.
Johnson was joined by her father, aunt, and grandmother, along with other attorneys from the firm. KAG partner Larry Keefe introduced Johnson and her family to Judge Maney, after which he administered the Oath of Attorney.
Born and raised in Pensacola, Johnson has strong ties to Northwest Florida. After graduating magna cum laude from the University of West Florida, Johnson attended the University of Florida’s Levin College of Law, where she earned her juris doctor in May 2016. Johnson passed the bar exam earlier in September.
During law school, Johnson served as a certified legal intern, helping to provide legal services to families in need throughout Alachua County. After graduating, Johnson served as a law clerk to the Honorable Ross M. Goodman, a circuit court judge in the First Judicial Circuit based in Milton. She also worked as a summer associate for a commercial litigation firm in Pensacola before joining KAG.
KAG partner Larry Keefe, himself a graduate of UF Law and a member of the law school’s board of trustees, met Johnson when he was asked to help recruit her to attend UF Law. Johnson says Keefe mentored her throughout law school and offered her a job when she graduated.
“Kia is an incredibly talented young attorney who will be a great asset for our firm,” said Keefe. “I’ve had the pleasure of advising her over the past few years, and I am excited about the value she adds to our team.”
“KAG is a great, forward-thinking firm with deep roots here in Northwest Florida,” said Johnson. “I can’t think of a better place to call home as I begin practicing law.”
